1970’s – NBG and Abedi, Lance and Jackson Stephens. A takeover of NBG by BCCI would not be approved by US bank regulators, so Abedi arranged for NBG to be purchased by Ghaith Rashad Pharaon, a Saudi tycoon and BCCI client, Pharaon appealed on the Americans in the 1970s. Pharaon’s company, Saudi research and development corporation REDEC, was launched in 1966, in partnership with two of King Faisal’s sons. Pharaon later brought them out. Pakistan’s Saigol family struck up a partnership with Pharaon in a construction and trading company and Abedi lent money to a hotel project in Jiddah, next came financial general bankshares FGB.

1970s – George W Bush started Arbusto energy inc in the 1970s. Some of the finance came from James R Bath, who was involved with Khalid Bin Mahfouz in the purchase of planes from the CIA. Bath was part owner of Houston’s main bank with Bin Mahfouz and Ghaith Pharaon.
